Perfectly preserved 7,000-year-old skeleton unearthed during renovation in Poland

Archaeologists in Poland have discovered the full skeleton of a person who lived around 7,000 years ago near what is now Kraków.

The Neolithic skeleton, unearthed during the renovation of a town square in Słomniki, is in excellent condition and was found with fragments of pottery beside it. Based on the style of pottery, which belongs to the linear pottery culture, the burial likely dates to around 7,000 years ago, Paweł Micykan archaeologist with Galty Earth & Engineering Services who excavated the site, told Live Science in an email.

SFU Burnaby’s Lorne Davies Complex, including the pool, to be renovated

The aquatic center at Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) Burnaby Mountain campus is set to experience a prolonged temporary closure for its major upgrade.

It is part of an overhaul of the oldest areas of Lorne Davies Complex, which was first built in 1965 and is now in need of facility, system, and seismic upgrades.

Starting on April 1, 2023, the aquatic center will close until further notice.

Temporary closures will also begin for other parts of the complex at a later date during the years-long construction process.

Groundbreaking for mall renovation set for March 17 | News

CUMBERLAND — A groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming $15 million downtown mall renovation project has been scheduled for March 17.

The public is invited to the event, which will take place at the McCoury Stage on the corner of Baltimore and Liberty streets at 12:30 pm

Actual construction is scheduled to begin April 3 with Triton Construction Inc. of St. Albans, West Virginia, doing the work.

The project will include replacing underground utility lines and adding high-capacity fiber optics, reinstalling Baltimore Street through the mall, reconstructing the parklets and adding new trees, shrubs and flowers.
