The new color scheme matches the former Grand Trunk rail line that operated until the 1920s

The Craigleith Heritage Depot museum and library has reopened after a six-month renovation.

Opened in 1886 as a rail station and stopping on the Grand Trunk Rail Line, the depot is also a big part of ski industry history as the trains that stopped there brought tourists from Toronto every Sunday for a day of skiing at Blue Mountain.

Police warn public about home renovation scam in Halton Region

Halton police are warning the public about an ongoing home repair fraud scheme.

The fraud involved contractors traveling door-to-door, performing cold call sales of services such as chimney or driveway repair and interlock stone work.

In the scheme, the “contractor” will provide a quote below market value for the work, and once a deal is reached with the victim, they will request a large cash payment. The “contractor” will then occasionally start the agreed-upon work, but it is often sub-par or incomplete.

Catalan architecture practice Arnau Estudi d’Arquitectura has completed the renovation of a rustic chicken coop in Olot, spaintransforming it into a modern workspace that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Reno gone wrong: Toronto-based contractor takes $82K, disappears

A Toronto-based renovation contractor who held about $82,000 in deposits without completing work has left a customer convinced he’ll never see any of the money again despite taking legal action.

The project began in late 2021 when the customer, whose first name is Jeff, was hired by Miller Building Group, operated by Todd Miller.

Global News has agreed to withhold Jeff’s surname because of concerns for his safety, unrelated to this story.

“Nothing but excuses, lies and deceit,” said Jeff, describing Miller’s abandonment of the renovation project in late 2022.
