Monday Swimwear has opened a new retail location in SoHo, debuting its latest store at the corner of Greene and Broome. The shop marks the brand’s second retail design collaboration with husband-and-wife duo Jess Nahon and Jonathan Nahon, who are also the founders of Sugarhouse Architecture + Design.

The design team transformed a historic cast-iron loft to embody the brand’s ethos of thoughtful design and quiet confidence. Originally, the space housed a Parajumpers store that was clad in oak and had a blocked rear skylight, stripping away the building’s original industrial character. The renovation sought to balance the grittiness of New York City with the “bi-coastal muse” of effortless beach living.

According to the designers, the goal was to create a warm, feminine environment that feels timeless and collected. They describe the result as a space that functions as an artist’s studio, a private salon, and a beach house all at once. The team sourced materials and furnishings from a mix of vintage dealers, design-forward retailers, artisans, and smaller makers, including many found through Etsy.

The interior relies on textured natural materials, soft plaster tones, and abundant florals. A key feature is the nude terracotta tile from Zellige Home, which is unglazed and offers a soft, natural warmth. The designers also introduced a new tin ceiling throughout the space, lightly brushed in Farrow & Ball’s Snow White. They chose this color to soften the reflective quality of the metal and give it the appearance of something that has always belonged to the building.

Custom lighting plays a significant role in the space’s atmosphere. The team worked with Pooky Lighting to develop the silk pendants, adding piping detail and choosing an off-white silk fabric for the UFO Pendant to better reflect the brand’s tonal world. The palette is carried through the walls and millwork, which are finished in the same Snow White paint.

Sugarhouse Architecture + Design is known for both commercial and residential projects. The firm approaches every project by focusing on how people want to feel rather than adhering to a specific aesthetic. Whether the project is a home or a store, the goal is to create environments that feel personal, layered, and emotionally resonant.

While the current SoHo location successfully blends high-end retail with a cozy, collected aesthetic, the heavy reliance on natural materials and vintage pieces could eventually pose maintenance challenges. Over time, the soft plaster and unglazed tiles may show wear from foot traffic or require specific cleaning agents to preserve their texture. It remains to be seen how the space will age alongside the clothing, but the current design certainly prioritizes a lived-in, relaxed atmosphere over pristine durability.
