Pyroguard, a global leader in fire safety glass, has introduced a new line of spandrel panels, broadening its range of high-performance façade glazing products. This move equips UK projects with a complete fire-rated façade solution from a single supplier.
The new panels meet the evolving demands of architects, façade consultants, contractors, and engineers. They offer an A2 reaction-to-fire, non-flammable option for applications where fully fire-resistant spandrel panels are not necessary.
Manufactured in the UK, the spandrel panels come as single gel-filled laminates or double glazed units in a ‘shadow box’ style. Available in three standard colors, white, anthracite grey, and black, they also offer other RAL colors upon request. The panels can incorporate Low-E glass technology for improved thermal performance.
This solution allows contractors to maintain existing framing systems used in non-fire rated areas while achieving the required A2 reaction-to-fire performance at the spandrel. This can result in a more cost-effective solution and better integration.
The spandrel panels comply with UK fire safety requirements, including Approved Document B. They complement Pyroguard’s existing range of fire-rated double glazed units, which can incorporate opaque spandrel glass products within the glazed construction and provide fire classifications ranging from EW30 to EI120.
According to Andy Lake, Sales Director UK & Ireland at Pyroguard, “The introduction of our new spandrel panel range represents an important step in expanding Pyroguard’s fire-rated façade offering and responding to the evolving needs of the UK projects market.” He added that specifiers and façade specialists increasingly seek complete, compliant solutions from trusted suppliers.
Pyroguard’s spandrel panels achieve an A2-s1, d0 reaction-to-fire classification to EN 13501-1, with some constructions also offering EW30-EI120 fire resistance to EN 13501-2 when glazed into a fire-rated framing system. They are manufactured according to the toughened safety glass standard EN 12150-2 and laminated safety glass standard EN 14449, and are CE certified with an Environmental Product Declaration to EN 15804.
