The first 2027 Color of the Year announcements are beginning to arrive, offering an early look at the shades paint brands expect to shape interiors in the year ahead.
So far, the picks suggest a move toward colors with warmth, depth, and easy livability—whether softened blues, earthier greens, or richer, more expressive tones.
As more brands unveil their selections, the full picture will emerge. For now, here are the 2027 Colors of the Year announced so far.
Glidden: Artifact
Glidden has named Artifact (PPG10-16) its 2027 Color of the Year. This warm, smoky blue offers a familiar, relaxed vibe.
“When everything feels like a lot, we feel like your space shouldn’t,” says Ashley McCollum, Glidden’s color marketing manager, in an interview.
She calls Artifact a “very fresh realignment”—a calm, grounded shade that refreshes a room without major renovations.
Glidden suggests using it on walls, cabinetry, ceilings, and exterior details. McCollum highlights color-drenched bedrooms or studies as ideal applications.
Behr: Grounded
Behr’s 2027 Color of the Year is Grounded (T27-01), a brown-leaning olive green.

This new shade sits between moss and olive, with a brown cast that distinguishes it from the gray-green sages that have dominated paint decks in recent years.
“We created a completely new color that wasn’t in our collection before,” Kayla Kratz, Behr’s head of color, tells ELLE Decor.
Behr tested dozens of olive greens before selecting Grounded, which follows 2026’s smoky jade Hidden Gem.
“We wanted this color with depth and dimension that just comes to life,” Kratz says.
Dutch Boy Paints: Deep Rooted
Dutch Boy Paints is going all in on orange for 2027. Its Color of the Year, Deep Rooted (311-7DB), is a burnished, earth-toned shade with a terracotta-like cast.
The company shows the color alongside creamy whites and related orange tones, but also with blush pink and bright blue, or a muted blue-gray and forest green.
“Deep Rooted offers a color that feels rich, grounding and deeply human,” Lisbeth Parada, Dutch Boy Paints’s color marketing manager, says.
Valspar: Cottage Door
Valspar’s 2027 Color of the Year is Cottage Door (8004-38E), a reflective midtone neutral blue with warm and cool undertones for broad appeal.
The brand says it reflects consumer interest in honest, grounding spaces.

“Cottage Door captures blue’s natural sense of security and trust while serving as a colorful new neutral that layers effortless into the home,” Sue Kim, Valspar’s director of color marketing, says.
Valspar recommends pairing it with warm gray Moon Shot (8005-2B), muted pink Apricot Blush (8003-8A), and light wood tones.
Sherwin-Williams: Rewild
Sherwin-Williams hasn’t announced its 2027 Color of the Year yet, but its Colormix Trend Forecast hints at the tones it’s watching. The Color of the Year will come from these 48 shades.
Titled Rewild, the forecast features moody oxbloods, mossy greens, earthy neutrals, chalky whites, sun-baked clays, and saturated jewel tones.
Emily Kantz, a color strategist on the Sherwin-Williams Colormix Trendsight Team, predicts richer, darker hues, especially cranberry and maroon, will gain traction.
“We know that that’s going to have continued staying power for the next few years, even longer,” she says.
Updates will follow as more 2027 Colors of the Year are announced, typically from late summer through December.
