It took a full renovation and a careful eye to turn a sterile West Village apartment into a home that feels collected, not designed.
The three-bedroom space belonged to jewelry designer Mia Moross and screenwriter Stuart Blumberg — she is known for her antique fine-jewelry collection favored by Zoe Kravitz and AnnaSophia Robb, and he earned an Oscar nomination for The Kids Are All Right. The person they brought in to fix it was Manon Roux, the founder of Atelier Roux, whose interiors tend to feel more composed than decorated.

“I began working with Mia and Stuart in January 2024 on a full renovation of their home, which hadn’t been updated since the early 2000s,” Roux said. “The space felt flat and very contemporary forward, with prefab bamboo floors and minimal architectural details. So, the goal was to bring in warmth by selecting thoughtful millwork and layered materials that felt bold, inviting, yet refined.”
A home that feels lived-in, not staged
From the start, Moross wanted the home to feel lived-in, mixing English country, bohemian, and warm modern influences. “She gravitated toward a balance of antiques and contemporary pieces, with a love for texture, pattern, and subtle colors,” the designer said. “There was also a desire for a sense of ease and informality, where the home could feel collected over time rather than overly designed.”

The designer’s own background shaped that approach. She grew up between New York and Paris, exposed to two creative worlds. Her mother worked in editorial and later became a global spokesperson for Chanel; her father is a multidisciplinary artist trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. “That dual influence shows up in my work through a very considered, almost photographic approach to interiors — thinking about perspective, balance, and scale, and how a space is experienced,” she added.
For this project, that meant rethinking the layout, adding new flooring, a complete kitchen redesign, custom millwork, and ceiling interventions to hide lighting.
