Marmite and Cheddar Cheese Scone Recipe
Prep Time: 15 minutes, Cook Time: 15 minutes, Total Time: 30 minutes, Serves: 6. The ingredients needed are: 225g self-raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 60g diced butter, 1 egg, 150ml milk, 75g grated strong cheese – cheddar or parmesan, 1 tsp Marmite, and 1 tbsp water.

Heat oven to 200°c/gas 6. Warm a little of the milk in a small saucepan with the Marmite and stir until dissolved, then combine with the rest of the milk; allow to cool. Sift flour and baking powder into the bowl.
Rub in the diced butter until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the cheese. Mix the milk and marmite mixture with the egg, add to the dry ingredients and stir with the table knife until the dough starts to come together.
Baking the Scones
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead lightly till smooth, then pat out to 3 cm thick and use a cutter or knife to portion the dough. Place on a lined baking sheet and sprinkle with water, and cook for 15 minutes until well risen and golden brown.
